Background


Professor Ren, Ph.D. and professor, is a PH. D. Adviser of College of Life Sciences, Shaanxi Normal University.   He graduated in Biology Department, Lanzhou University in 1982, allotted to work in Northwestern University in the same year. From 1984 to 1987, Professor Ren studied in Biology Department, Northwestern University and got Master Degree.
From 1993 to 1996, he studied in Biology Department, Northwestern University and got his Ph. D. In 1998 he was upgraded to be professor and was chosen to be Ph. D, Adviser in 2001. In 2003 he moved to Shaanxi Normal University.



Projects taken at present


1. Plant species diversity and their vertical distribution patterns in south slope of Mr. Qinling, a special topic
of State Key Basic Research and Development Plan.

2. Studies on the floral morphogenesis of Chinense Ranunculaceae (s. l.), The National Nature Science
Foundation of China.

3. Studies on Taxonomy and Distribution of bamboo as the main food of Giant Pandas in Qinling Mountains,
Cooperated with Memphis Zoo, U.S.A.




International Communions


In April 2003, Professor Ren was invited by Kanazawa University in Japan to report with subject as“
Establishment of a primary monitoring and assessment system in giant panda’s habitat in Changqing
National Nature Reserve of China”in International Symposium of the Kanazawa University 21st Century
COE Program.
This discourse was published in Proceedings, International Symposium of the Kanazawa University 21st
Century COE Program, this became the first piece of harvest on inspecting the habitats of giant pandas
in Qinling Mountains
