QINLING ECOVOLUNTEER PROJECT £ºWorking for giant pandas
Working for giant pandas, helping to maintain their eco-habitats and also working to protect the indigenous wildlife including the golden monkey, golden takin etc.
DESCRIPTION £º Wildlife conservation, animal rescue and fieldwork.
As an ecovolunteer you will live and work alongside experienced zoologists and botanists, assisting experts with their daily works. Monitoring the distribution of a wild giant panda's homerange, observing and recording the amount of time spent eating, drinking, playing and resting and noting the time of day at which the behaviour occurred £¬ in order to research their behaviour.
You may help in the marking, photographing, inspecting, rescue of other endangered species including the golden monkey, golden takin etc.
SITE £º Qinling Mountains
The Qinling Mountains lie in the middle of China. It is the watershed of China's two main rivers, the Yangtze and the Yellow River, and is the demarcation between north and south China in terms of geography and climate.
You can find the Qinling Mountains in one of the most biologically rich temperate forest in the world. There are 3000 species of plants, 140 species of mammals, 338 of birds, and 77 of amphibian and reptile. The slopes are home to a number of the world's endangered animals including over 4000 Golden Monkey, 5000 Takin, and 600 Crested Ibis. Giant Panda is the most important species to be protected in Qinling Mountains. The Qinling panda population is an independent panda population with about 273 pandas. The density is as high as 0.4/km2 in the areas of Sanguanmiao and Xihe which are the core regions of the Foping Nature Reserve. The density of panda in the reserve is in the first place over china.

You are in good physical and mental condition, and to be able to walk long distances in rough terrain

You must have a positive, cooperative attitude towards working and living in a group, also be prepared to abide by the specific rules and conditions laid down by the Qinling Reserves
The giant panda is not only a national treasure of China, but is also the symbol of nature conservation worldwide. This animal has the power to touch and transform all those who gaze upon it.
The threats it faces reflect the major issues of wildlife conservation: habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation; poaching; and conflicts between conservation and unsustainable economic development.
